BEATRICE KING

Beatrice King is a mixed Asian Canadian writer, producer, actor and emerging director. 

Her directorial debut, ‘You Are the Blue’, is a story that has never been told or shown on film before, and was written by Beatrice to encompass elements of her own personal journey, lending it a uniquely authentic voice.

Born of immigrant parents, Beatrice graduated from the University of Alberta where she studied English literature and writing. Later, Beatrice moved to Vancouver, BC, where she amassed over 40 credits as an Actor in Film & Television including ‘X-men Origins: Wolverine' with Hugh Jackman, Warner Brother’s ‘Mortal Kombat’, and the Farrelly Brother’s ‘Loudermilk’.

Beatrice was selected as a part of the ‘Diversity of Voices’ pitch program at the Banff World Media Festival, as one of the top 25 producers & writers. 

Her extensive on set experience as a Youth Acting Coach involves working closely with directors on Films and TV series for UNIVERSAL, DISNEY and NETFLIX, including coaching Jace Chapman on his Emmy Award winning performance on Netflix's ‘The Healing Powers of Dude’.

As a producer, Beatrice teamed up with Jem Garrard (Syfy's 'Vagrant Queen', CW's 'Nancy Drew'), on the Award Winning shows, 'Android Employed', 'The Wolf Who Came to Dinner', as well as 'Echo & Solomon' (as writer/executive producer), that went on to screen at festivals worldwide.

Actor, Lead (Kay)

Eden Summer Gilmore

Rising star, Eden Summer Gilmore, got her start playing young Betty Cooper on CW’s ‘Riverdale’. She is known for playing young Nancy Drew in CW’s ‘Nancy Drew’, and Guest Star Darya Denys in ABC’s ‘The Good Doctor’ (in which Eden won the UBCP/ACTRA AWARD for BEST Supporting Performance, and was also nominated for a LEO Award). Eden can be seen as a Series Regular, Sofia Bianchi, in Global & CW’s ‘Family Law’ opposite Jewel Staite.

Training with Beatrice as her Acting Coach since the age of 11 years, Eden was the true age of the character, Kay in the film (16 years), upon filming.

Eden brings depth, subtlety and nuance to the complex role of Kay while capturing her old soul & innocence.

Stirling Bancroft csc

Cinematographer

Stirling Bancroft csc is an award-winning Cinematographer who works internationally on both independent and studio pictures.

Public Schooled (2017), directed by Kyle Rideout, lead a charge of films lensed by Bancroft that screened at TIFF; FREAKS in 2018 with duo Adam Stein and Zach Lipovsky, and Monkey Beach in 2019, directed by Loretta Todd and adapted from the critically studied novel by Eden Robinson.

A graduate of of the film program at the University of British Columbia, Bancroft enjoyed photographing gritty independent projects like She Who Must Burn (2015) with Larry Kent, one of the “original English-Canadian auteurs,” and Cadence (2016) for which director, Alex Lasheras, won an audience award at the Vancouver International Film festival.

Commercially Sniper: Assassin’s End (2020) helmed by graphic novel artist and writer Kaare Andrews and distributed by Sony went on to top the US iTunes download list and placed well on the global top ten list of most streamed films for Netflix.

James Kot

Executive Producer

James Kot has been a working Actor/Producer in Canada for over 15 years. His credits include projects for Netflix, ABC, CBS, Warner Bros, Hallmark, and the CW.

James was one of Writers and Executive Producers on "A Tremendous Heist", for which Beatrice King was awarded 'Best Actress in a Short Film' at the Oregon Independent Film Festival.

Eduard Witzke

Executive Producer

Ed Witzke has been a working Actor/Producer in Canada for the last 15 years. His credits include, but are not limited to: Family Channel, YTV, Hallmark, the CW and Netflix and FOX, and was also Executive Producer of the 2013 horror film, ‘Feed The Gods’.  

Ed has worked closely with Beatrice for over a decade now, is excited for the world to see her directorial debut, and is happy to be bringing awareness to such a personal and important issue.

Michael Khazen

Producer

Michael is a producer who has built a reputation for being one of Vancouver's most in-demand independent producers. As a founding partner, and current CEO of Vancouver-based High Deaf Productions, Michael has produced award-winning television and feature film content including the OutTV television series The Switch, the feature length documentary Ken Foster, and the Leo nominated short film Deuteronomy 24:16.   

Michael worked with Beatrice producing the award winning films, 'The Wolf Who Came to Dinner' (Jem Garrard), and 'Echo and Solomon', both screening at festivals worldwide.

Lisa Purves

Associate Producer

Lisa Purves is a Vancouver based LEO Award nominated screenwriter/producer and recipient of a Praxis Fellowship in Screenwriting for one of her dramatic feature scripts, Pride No More.

At the beginning of 2009, Lisa joined with High Deaf Productions as an in-house writer/producer, and together the team continues to build a strong project base with local clients as well as clients from India and the United States.

Lisa has worked on the award winning films, ‘The Wolf Who Came to Dinner’, ‘Echo & Solomon’, and ‘Deuteronomy 24:16’.

Ken Chan

Composer

Ken has been a full-time musician since 2000, and specializes in producing all styles of music for TV commercials and film. He has played keyboards for some of Hong Kong’s biggest pop starts and has extensive touring experience in Hong Kong and Asia.

Now residing in Vancouver, he has composed over one thousand works for clients such as Coca Cola, McDonald’s and Sony.

Ken also scored movies such as the iconic ‘Killzone/SPL’ franchise which featured martial arts and stars Sammo Hung, Donnie Yen, and Tony Jaa, as well as the Jackie Chan and Johnny Knoxville movie, ‘Skiptrace’.

Reid Hendry

Sound Designer & Re-recording Mixer

Reid Hendry is an experienced sound designer, mixer and composer working in Vancouver. He has worked on numerous award winning independent projects including ‘BC Was Awesome’, ‘Android Employed’ with Jem Garrard and Beatrice King, and the feature ‘Welcome to the Circle’.

In addition, his sound design and mixing can be heard on animation hits ‘Hello Ninja!’, ‘Go Dog Go!’, and ‘Spidey and His Amazing Friends’, where he is currently working as Supervising Sound Editor and Re-Recording Mixer.
